Capital DC’s mother dies
ITANAGAR, Jun 03: Yapu Kamki, mother of Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Mige Kamki died at the age of about 90 years here yesterday.
All the officers and staff of Capital Administration expressed condolences on the passing away of mother of the Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner.
They observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect for the departed soul and prayed for her eternal peace.
Itanagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA) on behalf of the business community here conveyed heartfelt condolence to the Deputy Commissioner on death of his beloved mother.
The business community of Itanagar downed their shutters for two hours and observed one minutes silence along with IMWA members and as mark of respect to late Yapu Kamki. They also prayed to almighty to rest her departed soul in peace.
BJP dismisses NYP claim

RMNCH+A activities reviewed
ITANAGAR, June 3: The activities under Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH+A) in the state were reviewed in a meeting at Mission Director of National Health Mission office today.
Issues pertaining to maternal and child health as well as adolescent were discussed thoroughly along with district specific strategic approach to ensure equal focus.
Special Secretary (Health) Dr Tariq Thomas, who presided over the meeting, stressed on maintaining quality of services at all level by strengthening the system. He also gave emphasis on follow up and timely review of any work programme to find out the actual shortcomings. He also suggested for reinforcing effort in those poor performing districts.
Dr. Thomas also emphasized on providing training to medical staff to equip them with necessary knowledge and information.
NHM Director PN Thungon urged all the staff to work in a missionary zeal and spirit to achieve the goal. He also suggested for strengthening ASHA component and community outreach activities.
Nodal officer (NHM) Dr D. Padung informed that out of the four high priority districts, Kurung kumey and Upper Siang have improved in many front like health care delivery as well as in dissemination of IEC activities.

ITANAGAR, Jun 03: National Students Union of India (NSUI) unit of Arunachal Pradesh attended the union’s national convention ‘Dristikun’ held in New Delhi on May 27 and 28.
The programme aimed at recognizing best services rendered by the district presidents of NSUI was inaugurated by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Arunachal awaits Maggi sample results as states, Army take it off shelves
ITANAGAR, June 3: The Food Safety Officers (FSO) of Arunachal have taken random samples
of Maggi noodles of available batches from various places of Arunachal Pradesh on
May 21 and 22 under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and dispatched the samples
to the laboratory for analysis. The food analysis report is awaited. Maggi noodles

Centre to set up 42 ITBP border outposts
GUWAHATI, June 3: The Centre will set up 42 additional ITBP border outposts (BOP) for strengthening security along the international borders of the North East states along China, said Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju today.
"We have approved the setting up of 37 additional BOPs in Arunachal Pradesh and five in Sikkim. Presently, the BOPs are positioned at a distance of 30 to 40 km from each other. It is difficult for the 40 or so people manning each BOP to monitor the distance between the two posts," he told newsmen here.
The additional BOPs besides strengthening border security will facilitate the people living in those areas, he said, adding the Centre was planning to provide rice, dal and other food items to help them.
"We want to match the border roads with the neighbouring countries. Their roads are
very good. Improving the border roads will also facilitate the local people there,"

The Centre, he said, would also set up integrated check posts (ICP) in all border areas of the northeast states and many spots have already been identified for the purpose.
"The ICPs would be at Moreh in Manipur, Dawki in Meghalaya, Kaladan and Kawarpuchia in Mizoram, Agartala in Tripura, Pangsupass in Arunachal Pradesh and may be at Dhubri and Karimganj in Assam," the central minister said.
The ICPs to be full fledged trading points will facilitate border trade and people from across the border can come there legally, besides establishing relations with the neighbouring countries, Rijiju said.
"Our government has taken expedient steps for setting up the ICPs and establish contact with the neighbouring countries as they have to jointly agree for the posts," he added.
In the smaller bordering areas, haats (small centres) would be set up to facilitate trade across the border, Rijiju said.
The Cabinet Committee on Security in 2006 had approved the setting up of ICPs on entry/exit points along India's international land border as a sanitised zone that has adequate passenger and freight processing facilities.

"The state governments have only to provide the land for them," he said. For the benefit of the local north east contractors and to take care of the employment problem here, he said all road construction packages will be made small to be below Rs 50 crore. A ten per cent mobilisation fund for buying equipment and labour mobilisation would be given, he said, adding a workshop will be held here next month to train qualified local youths. PTI
Students, parents warned of fake and unrecognized educational institutes
ITANAGAR, June 3: The Department of Higher and Technical Education (DTHE), GoAP has warned the students and parents against fake and unrecognized educational institutes.
The students and parents are advised to check official websites of the statutory bodies, which are also made available in the notice board of the DHTE, before getting admission into any educational institute offering courses in higher education, said Director Higher Education T Padu in a release.
He said that many innocent students fall prey to lure of some fake and unrecognized educational institutes/ universities within the country and abroad.
“It has been observed that a number of students are taking admissions in various institutions and universities within the country and abroad for pursuing higher studies in different fields. It has been learnt that some of these institutions aren’t recognized by the appropriate statutory bodies notified for the purpose by the Central Government. Such institutions, universities lure the innocent students by issuing misleading advertisements in various newspapers claiming recognition/ affiliations of some statutory bodies which may not always be correct. Taking admission or pursuing studies in such institutions/ universities may ruin the life of the students as the degrees awarded by them may not officially be recognized, leading to unnecessary wastage of time, money, energy and hope,” the release said.
The students and their parents are warned not to be misled by such advertisements. They are requested to verify the authenticity of such institutions/ universities before taking admission in them through the official websites of the statutory bodies which recognize/ affiliate these institutions.

Tawang for Nepal mission reaches remote village
ITANAGAR, June 3: Tawang for Nepal, a mission initiated by some youths of Tawang, after the completion of it’s relief tour at Doromba circle in Nepal, made its journey towards an untouched village called Kothapay to build shelter in collaboration with Ani Tenzin Tsomo La for 50 households on May 31.
The team built the shelters for the earthquake victims and also taught the village youths how to build the shelters. The team also distributed some study materials to the children.
“We were saddened to see the unhealthy condition of the village. There was no water and electricity,” added a member. The villagers are depending on fishing for livelihood and raft is only means of transportation. They could hardly earn Rs. 100 per day per household, he added.
“One of the villagers told me that it costs Rs.90 per kg for a kilo of rice and they hardly get the taste of it. There were no sign of ambulance, hospitals and taxis near by and it takes 4 hours to reach nearest hospital by car, ” a member added.
The team expressed its gratitude to all the supporters including Ani Tenzin Tsomo La, a nun and generous donors who made the mission possible.
RBI identifies nine districts for rubber plantation in state

Underground cable system proposed for Roing town
ROING, June 3: District Electricity Committee (DEC) in a meeting held here yesterday on provisions under Integrated Power Development Scheme and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grameen Jyoti Yojana proposed for LT (low tension) under ground cable system at Roing Bazar area.
The DEC also proposed for renovation and modernization of the present Power House of Roing and separate feeder for agricultural area for there is no irrigation pump sets in agricultural fields due to non existence of HT (high tension) or LT transmission network in the district.
The Chairman of DEC and MP (Rajya Sabha) Mukut Mithi, who presided over the meeting, said that numbers of villagers had approached him to initiate scheme for electrification of agricultural fields so that the farmers can install pump sets for irrigation purpose.
Earlier, Executive Engineer (Elect),Department of Power, Roing Napi Modi submitted proposal of IPDS scheme with a tentative cost of Rs. 2180.86 lakhs. He has also submitted Need Assessment Document of DDUGJY scheme with tentative cost of Rs. 11,350.51 lakhs. Both the schemes have been approved by the DEC.

Emphasizing on the fact that the very existence of a society lies in its cultural values, he articulated that, “ Monpa community is interlinked to Tibetan culture and religion and we should strive hard, socially and culturally, for the preservation of Bhoti script and Buddhist culture in the twin Buddhist districts of Tawang and West Kameng. We should destroy inferiority complex, override our differences and preserve our tradition and culture and try to lead in all fields together”.
Tawang DC Abishek Dev proposed for a Bhoti library in the district and interaction programmes with scholars from Varanasi and Dharamshala for providing high exposure to the teaching and learning community. “Study tours of Bhoti teachers to various Bhoti language centres of the nation will be a good learning experience for teachers, while encouraging and inducting female teachers will do a world of good to the third language”, he suggested.

Historic judgment
The conviction of an illegal extortionist by Chief Judicial Magistrate, Capital Complex, Yupia yesterday is a landmark judgment in itself. One Bake Kepo after being convicted was given five years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for trying to extort money from a businessman claiming himself to be member of an underground group. Court also imposed fine of rupees ten thousand on Kepo.
Such kind of conviction is rare in our state and will surely act as deterrent. One of the main reasons for high rise of crime in Arunachal is lack of conviction. Despite committing heinous crimes like murder, rape, kidnapping etc people easily walk out of jail. Many of these criminals have gone on to become big time contractors without ever being punished. They become the wrong role model of young generation. Therefore in this context, the judgment of CJM Yupia is historic. It has restored the faith of citizen on police and judiciary. Law of land has prevailed. This judgment will boast morale of police, public prosecutors and citizen. The victim of crime will also get inspiration from such judgment.

of problems due to non-
Efforts have been done for acquisition of maximum numbers of teachers for the school but every time it goes in vain. For the last ten years, Junior Teachers (JT) are taking classes though they should not be teaching Class (XI) & (XII). The Class (XI) Science students are the worse effected in this regard.
The students whoever have passed Class (X) from Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Borguli, are
not allowed to take admission in other Hr. Sec. Schools nor are they being properly/adequately
taught in Borguli. As a result, the Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Borguli has become a death
trap for the students of Monggu Banggo area under Mebo Sub-
Therefore, in order to save the students’ future from being spoilt, Education department is earnestly requested to issue an order and instruct the authorities of Mebo to initiate all necessary action to admit students in their schools who have passed Class (X) from the Govt. Don’t let others suffer the same fate
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily newspaper, I would like to place my view on medical staff (Naharlagun).
My dad suffered a sudden stroke. When he was in unconscious state and brought to emergency (NLG), the doctor was behaving as if my pet is injured. He just did the formality. Finally another senior doctor arrived. After thorough check, he advised us to immediately rush my father to Guwahati.
After being referred, now it was the turn for getting an ambulance from the hospital. Now, it was the time for the medical staff to play hide & seek game with us.
Doctors said call the CMO who directed us to call the driver. Now, when called, the driver told us to call the compounder because he has the keys with him. When we called the compounder he said that he has the keys with him but the vehicle is not with him. Now the driver tells us that the van must be in the hospital and that to avail the services we have to call the CMO again.
It was like we were playing catch me if you can.
It was surprising that it took us two hours to manage an ambulance for a patient who was unconscious. What hurts more is that my father was a dresser at medical itself; after serving 30 year, at the end he got no support from the very department he served. I lost my father.
Therefore, I request the concern authority to put in place a system where patients would not suffer. I will never get back what I have lost but i don’t want others to suffer the same fate as me. If we take our responsibility seriously and do our duties well, pain would be so much lesser.
